In the comment list, you can sort the comments by date, author or article commented on. You can click on the down/up arrows at the top of the columns.

In order to limit the number of comments displayed on the page, you can either choose to display the comments without a reply or the new comments only. You need to click at the right-hand side of "Display" and choose the option most adapted to your needs in the drop-down menu.
