The story of Harry Potter at the pictures

Warner Bros. has just released the final instalment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in cinemas, and fans are looking back at the memories collected over the years. This article will look at pictures collected from both the films and from the book covers.

The films

Since the release of the first Harry Potter film, fans have been inundated with images of the young stars and stills from the films. Fans have been able to see pictures of Rupert Grint and everyone since the day that they were announced in the roles that would change their lives. With the growing popularity of the films, fans began to devour each new picture, pulling apart the costume and designs of each prop and scene. The actors themselves did not escape this intense scrutiny. Emma Watson, in particular, faced the questionable attention lavished on her première outfits and budding fashion career.

The books

When the novels were released with the covers released in both adult and children’s versions, they garnered more attention than could have been anticipated by anyone. Fans clamoured to show private pictures of their book cover collections. The release of the cover art was pulled apart and discussed in detail on forums and websites. Some fans actually bought both of the covers, as well as the special editions and collections to make sure that they have each of the available variants . Sites such as Flickr have allowed fans to compare their collections and reveals limited covers that fans may have missed.

Other media

Photoshop and other editing software have allowed fans to make their own graphics and images that could be displayed on the internet. Some of these software produced results that compare the images to the professional work available. There are also a wide selection of posters both chronicling the books and the films. Even the DVD and Blu-ray releases keep the magic alive by including the moving pictures used in the films as menus and giving fans the chance to escape the Muggle World through interactive pictures and games. There are many fan sites out there that are dedicated to pictures from the Harry Potter world taken from premières, the films, the books, and with JK Rowling announcing the new Potter website. It looks like the world is going to be getting new pictures for a long time despite the series being completed.
