A review of See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989)

See No Evil, Hear No Evil is a movie released in 1989 with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. Even if it was not well received by the critics, the comedy was a huge success at the box office. This article focuses on the movie, the cast and the way people see the movie today.

The plot

Plot overview
Wally Karew (played by Richard Pryor) is a blind man who meats Dave Lyons (Gene Wilder) when he applies for a job in his shop.
Dave is deaf and after initial confusion, the two men become friends.
Dave reads people's lips and guides Wally, while Wally tells him about what people say behind his back.
Then, someone gets murdered and Wally and Dave witness this.
Wally has heard the killer while Dave has seen him.
The killers don't want to take any chances and try to kill the witnesses to stop them from identifying them.
Dave and Wally need to work together as a team, to survive and bring the killers to justice.

The cast

Richard Pryor
Richard Pryor is one of the most famous comedians of all time.
He was known for talking about racism in his stand up shows in a way that was considered very controversial.
Pryor was known for using rather vulgar language and adopting a colourful way of telling stories.
He played in a lot of successful movies in the 1970's and 1980's.
He collaborated many times on movies with Gene Wilder.
Today, Pryor is often seen as the best stand up comic of all time. Gene Wilder
Gene Wilder started his screen career with his part in the movie Bonnie and Clyde in 1967.
He then made The Producers and played Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In recent years Wilder has made numerous TV appearances.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil

Wilder and Pryor made four movies together: Silver Streak, Stir Crazy, See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Another You.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil is considered to be the best of their pairings.
